Probably the number one reason most people root, this app allows you to tether on your phone without carrier chargers. Use your phone has a wi-fi hot spot! 

This app allows you to see the entire file system of your device, root files and all. This is by far the best file manager. 

This is not for every user, but it can be useful. You can use this app to overclock your processor. This means making a 1GHZ proc work at around 1.2GHZ for example. This can degrade battery life.
