Introduction

Unicus is an framework that handles lockscreen customization respecting three main areas of the lockscreen: clock, notifications and unlock slider. These are the areas that defined the look and feel of the OS, and this framework does not want to change this perfect layout which made iOS iconic. The majority of the existing lockscreen tweaks which rely and respect those default areas can be ported to Unicus. Themes using Unicus as a framework are 100% compatible with each other. The documentation of the framework is under construction, will be released later on after the framework is tested by the public to make sure changes are not required on dev side.

Recommended Settings

Go to Settings App > Display and Brightness > Text Size and set it to minimum.

Go to Settings App > Privacy > Location Services > Weather and set it to always.

Set a non dynamic wallpaper

Because of the complexity of the tweak, I can not guarantee compatibility with other lockscreen tweaks.

My tweaks are developed on nearly clean devices. 100% work is only guaranteed in circumstances where lockscreen is not touched by other tweaks.

Features

Combine Themes

There are four main customization areas:

No matter what themes you have, these areas can be customized separatedly without compromising the compatibility of themes with each other.

Combine Styles

Three styles (or color options) for the main customization areas

Dynamic Coloring

Text coloring is handled based on multiple details. First, wallpaper color is taken into account, then the style selected by the user (Light, Default, Dark) for the current themes. Since the text color of the notification widgets can not be changed (not all text is displayed on a transparent background), instead the clock background is adjusted with a darker fill color when needed (white wallpaper and/or light clock style)

Theme Specific Options

Different themes can have their own settings. You can change them in Unicus App > Theme specific > "Insert_Theme_Name". Themes can use standard PreferenceBundles, like tweaks in Settings.app

Notification Center Widgets

With unicus you can access your notification center widgets directly from your lockscreen. You can enable them in Unicus App > Advanced > Notification Center Widgets. Currently only widgets from the AppStore are supported. The order of the widgets is determined by how you set them in your NotificationCenter. If you are having trouble with widgets, read here.

Performance Mode

This option changes the animation of the notifications while scrolling through the widgets. It is recommended to have this enabled. When a lot of blurred view is displayed on screen, animations might lag on older devices. This option is enabled by default, can be disabled at Unicus App > Advanced > Performance Mode.

Notification Cache

By default, iOS reloads and redraws every notification while scrolling through the list. This can produce lag while scrolling, because themes are actively modifying the notifications' look. Notification Cache keeps them active till they are either removed by the user or the device is unlocked. This behaviour can not be modified, but it is a nice addition that you should know about :)

Unicus Theme Pack

Pure promotion below

This is the offical theme pack for Unicus: 9 different themes with interchangeable configuration. It is unbelievable, but the possible combination of different lockscreen configurations (colors * theme components * 2 notification icon options in advanced menu) is 75600. This means that using the default theme pack, the possibility of one unicus user having the same lockscreen as you is 1 to 75600. End of advertisement: Or more because I did not count the rest of the small options as well as the theme specifics, but then good taste and good eye is also not taken into account (yes, there are combinations that may would not please a clear sight :P), so these equalize each other a bit.

The theme pack is available on Cydia

Unicus

The standard theme for the tweak, the first complete theme I built for it, this is why the name is the same as the framework's.

Unicus

OG

The Original Gangster. Iconic layout, new feel. This is a complete theme.

OG

Circles

This theme is all about roundness, but as the name suggests, this is not about round corners! The theme includes clock background skin, notification skin, and an unlock slider skin. The unlock slider has a unique animation, it moves like a spinning wheel! If you swipe to the opposite direction, you can access quick launch apps. You can customize the quick launch apps in Theme Specific Options.

Circles

macOS

The theme currently has 2 parts: notification theme and status bar theme. Fun fact: I had to change the name of the theme during development, because Apple renamed OSX to macOS.

macOS

ModernUI

Modern, minimalist look. Provides a clock face with weather info and a new unlock slider. Notification theme may come later.

ModernUI

WatchOS

This theme only gives you a notification redesign. This was the first piece of the tweak. Basicaly I started it because of a reddit request. WatchNotifications' dev was faster. You couldn't use Unicus now without me being a slow snail when it comes to development.

WatchOS

iOS 10

iOS 10 style notifications for iOS 8/9

iOS 10

WeatherClock

Get weather data with a single tap. Preferred layout if you need weather info but also would like to preserve battery life. Resizeable in Theme Specific Options.

WeatherClock

AnalogClock

Classic clock in a modern form. Resizeable in Theme Specific Options.

Known Issues

My widget background does not have the same color as my clock background!

This is not an issue, read the reason for it here

Dynamic wallpapers are not working perfectly

Status bar color is not set properly, Dynamic Coloring can not read the average value correctly for them. Some blur views might also show incorrectly

After enabling Notification Center Widgets, my device crashes

This can be caused by multiple things. One that came up during beta shows that it might be 32bit device related, but this needs confirmation. The other is that one of your widgets causes it. Try disabling them one by one. Read more about which widgets are supported here.

Reminder Widget Missing

Reminder widget was a special. It was inconsistent, constantly late at loading. The same issues can be observed with it in the Notification Center itself, but in the lock screen it was far more noticeable. I disabled it (only on the lockscreen) to not ruin the overall experience with the tweak.

Weather info not displayed

1. Check your internet connection. 2 Make sure location services are enabled for weather (steps)

Notifications look odd

Read this.

Texts look odd

Same as above. Read this.

Issues

My device crashes

Please read this first. If the issue is still present after disabling Notification Center Widgets, the most likely situation is that Unicus conflicts with another tweak. Try disabling them with iCleaner (though I do not trust iCleaner that much, and I prefer manual cleaning). If the issue is still present, go to Unicus App > Advanced and enable Debug Mode. Then send me the Crashlog and Syslog produced by the tweak CrashReporter after a crash (CrashReporter has the option to directly send them to me from the app). If you do not have crash reporter installed, or CrashReporter does not produce Syslog, enable Log to file under Debug Mode. Intentionally make the device crash again, then send me the log directly from Unicus app.
